What is Mahjong Ways 2?

Mahjong Ways 2 is a mahjong-themed slot from Pocket Games Soft, also known as PG Soft. PG Soft announced it as the sequel to Mahjong Ways in April 2020. Both games use mahjong tiles, cascading wins and gold-plated symbols, but the sequel changes the reel layout and the way gold symbols work during free spins.

In Mahjong Ways 2, the five reels have 4, 5, 5, 5 and 4 positions respectively. This 4-5-5-5-4 layout gives the game 2,000 ways to win, compared with 1,024 ways in Mahjong Ways. A ways count is not a promise of a win on each spin; it describes the ways the game checks for winning symbol combinations. The public PG Soft demo displays the ways count above the reels. This site uses its English interface.

The games are built for iOS, Android, HTML5, MacOS and Windows. The PG Soft games run through a browser or gaming platform; PG Soft does not offer an official standalone Mahjong Ways APK. Slot Mechanics in the Game

The Wild symbol, shown as a gold ingot marked WILD, substitutes for other symbols except the Scatter. Gold-plated symbols may appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. When a winning combination is removed, new symbols drop into the gaps. If a gold symbol was part of the win, it changes into a Wild for the next cascade. The game then checks for another win within the same spin.

The multiplier starts at x1. A win in the first cascade round raises the multiplier for the next round to x2; a win in the second raises it to x3; a win in the third raises it to x5 for the following rounds. It resets when a new spin begins. These are cascade multipliers, not a guarantee that a spin will reach a later round or produce a particular result.

Three Scatter symbols anywhere trigger the free-spins feature. It starts with 10 free spins, and each additional Scatter adds 2. Free spins can be retriggered. Their multiplier ladder is x2, x4, x6 and x10. The defining change is on reel 3: during free spins, all symbols there except Wilds and Scatters appear gold. Mahjong Ways 2 slot review: published figures

PG Soft lists an RTP of 96.95% for Mahjong Ways 2. Its published split is 70.39% from the main game and 26.56% from the free-spins feature. RTP is a theoretical, long-run measure for the game version, not a forecast of what a player will receive in a particular session. Third-party hourly RTP claims are not official live figures; the published RTP is not an hourly promise.

The hit rate is the published frequency of a win event, not a measure of how large wins are. The Big Win, Mega Win and Super Mega Win figures are frequencies, not schedules: a result is not due after a set number of spins. What changed from Mahjong Ways?

The sequel keeps the original’s Wild, gold-plated cascade mechanic and base-game multiplier ladder, but adds an extra position on reels 2, 3 and 4. It also changes the number of starting free spins and makes reel 3 consistently gold during the feature. The comparison table summarises the main published differences; the higher ways count does not by itself establish that one game is more favourable.

Mahjong Ways starts with 12 free spins when three Scatters appear. Mahjong Ways 2 starts with 10. In both games, each additional Scatter adds 2 free spins, the feature can retrigger, and the free-spin multiplier ladder is x2, x4, x6 and x10. The first game’s gold symbols can appear on reels 2, 3 and/or 4 during any spin. The sequel uses the same gold-symbol locations in the base game, then guarantees gold symbols on the middle reel during free spins.

The advertised maximum win for Mahjong Ways 2 is 100,000x the bet. In one billion simulated spins, the maximum exposure observed was 1,708x. These are different measures: the advertised value is the game’s stated maximum, while the simulated figure records the highest result in that simulation and does not set a future limit or predict a player’s outcome. For Mahjong Ways, the advertised maximum win is 25,000x the bet; its maximum exposure in one billion simulated spins was 2,893x. Neither maximum should be treated as an expected result.

Who may suit Mahjong Ways 2?

The sequel may suit players who prefer a more populated reel layout, cascade rounds and a free-spins feature focused on the middle reel. Those who value a larger number of starting free spins may prefer the first Mahjong Ways on that specific feature detail. These are differences in mechanics, not recommendations about which game to choose or evidence of better results.

Both games have medium session volatility according to PG Soft. That label does not remove the possibility of losing sessions or long gaps between feature triggers. A higher hit rate does not mean that each win is large, and free spins are not guaranteed on a chosen schedule. Each spin is independent, so claimed tricks, patterns, predictors and hacks cannot reliably forecast the next result.
