What is Mahjong Ways 2?

Mahjong Ways 2 is a classic Chinese-themed slot developed by Pocket Games Soft (PG Soft). It uses mahjong tiles and a five-reel layout. Reels 1 and 5 have four rows; reels 2, 3 and 4 have five, giving the game its 4-5-5-5-4 shape. PG Soft lists 2,000 ways for a win, compared with 1,024 in Mahjong Ways. The number of ways is shown above the reels in the public demo.

The extra positions on the three middle reels are the main visible layout change from the first game. The underlying play still centres on cascading wins, gold-plated symbols that can become Wilds, and a multiplier that advances as a cascade continues. How do the gold symbols and cascades work?

A winning combination is paid, then its symbols disappear from the reels. New symbols fall into the open spaces and the game checks for another win. This process can continue for more than one round within a single spin. A new spin resets the cascade multiplier.

Gold-plated symbols may appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. Wild and Scatter symbols do not appear as gold-plated symbols. When a gold symbol is part of a win, it changes into a Wild as new symbols cascade down. The Wild substitutes for all symbols except Scatter, so the change can help form another combination during the same spin. It does not mean that every gold tile will become a Wild: the gold symbol has to be involved in a win.

The multiplier above the reels starts at x1. If a win occurs in the first cascade round, the next round uses x2; a win in that round advances the next round to x3. A win in the third round advances the multiplier to x5 for the fourth round and later rounds of that spin. It resets when a new spin begins. Mahjong Ways 2 free spins: what changes?

Three Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels trigger 10 free spins. Each additional Scatter adds 2 spins, and the feature can be retriggered. During free spins, all symbols on reel 3 appear gold except Wild and Scatter symbols. If one of those gold symbols is involved in a win, it transforms into a Wild as the symbols cascade. This makes the middle reel the defining feature of the bonus round; it does not turn every symbol on the reel into a Wild at once.

The free-spins multiplier ladder is x2, x4, x6 and x10. These are the feature multipliers, distinct from the base-game cascade ladder of x1, x2, x3 and x5. Mahjong Ways 2 RTP, volatility and hit statistics

PG Soft lists Mahjong Ways 2 with a theoretical RTP of 96.95%. The split is 70.39% for the main game and 26.56% for the free-spins feature. RTP describes a theoretical long-run return for the game version, not a forecast for an individual session or a promise of a particular result. It is not an hourly changing figure. Hit rate is a statistical frequency measure, not a guarantee that a result will occur within a set number of spins. The same applies to the listed Big Win, Mega Win and Super Mega Win frequencies: they describe long-run figures, not a schedule. Results come from a random number generator and each spin is independent. Patterns, predictors and Mahjong Ways 2 tricks do not change the outcome of a spin.

The sequel retains the core gold-symbol and cascade mechanics but changes the reel shape, number of ways, free-spin setup and published statistics. The table compares the two PG Soft games using their listed figures.

Both maximum-win figures in the table are advertised values, not expected outcomes; each is shown beside the maximum exposure observed in the same scale of simulation. Mahjong Ways has a base cascade ladder of x1, x2, x3 and x5, just like Mahjong Ways 2. Its free spins begin with 12 spins rather than 10, while the sequel makes reel 3 gold across the feature. The higher advertised maximum in Mahjong Ways 2 should not be read as evidence that it is more likely to produce a large win.

Where can you view the Mahjong Ways 2 game?

The public PG Soft demo uses virtual credits, and the English interface is used on this site. Mahjong Ways 2 may interest readers who like a tile theme, multiple cascade rounds and a feature that concentrates gold symbols on the middle reel. Its medium session volatility and published hit-rate figures offer points for comparison with Mahjong Ways, but they do not indicate what any one session will deliver. For a low-risk look at the interface and rules, the virtual-credit demo is the relevant option. It does not involve money. What is the position in India?
