How do you open the Mahjong Ways demo?

The Mahjong Ways demo is the official PG Soft public demo, and it uses virtual credits. On this site, it does not start automatically: press the demo button when you are ready. The game opens in an English interface for this section; the Indonesian name is Cara Mahyong. The public demo is available in several interface languages.

To begin, follow these steps:

1. Choose Mahjong Ways or Mahjong Ways 2.
2. Press the demo button on this site. The game will not launch before you do.
3. Wait for the game screen to load, then use SPIN to start a round.
4. Open PAYTABLE or RULES if you want to check symbols, controls or feature details before playing.

The demo runs as an HTML5 game. PG Soft lists support for iOS, Android, HTML5, MacOS and Windows; a standalone PG Soft Mahjong Ways APK is not confirmed. On a phone, the portrait layout is the practical view. PG Soft gives an optimal display specification of 1080x2340 in a 19.5:9 portrait ratio. What should you test in the game demo?

Use the demo to understand how a round unfolds, not to predict a later result. Each spin is independent, and results are determined by a random number generator. A short session cannot establish what future spins will do.

Cascades and the multiplier ladder

In both games, a win removes the winning symbols and new symbols drop into their places. The game checks the new arrangement for another win, so one spin can contain more than one cascade round. Watch the multiplier above the reels as these rounds progress: it starts at x1, then advances to x2, x3 and x5 after wins in successive rounds. It resets when a new spin begins.

The free-spins feature has a separate ladder: x2, x4, x6 and x10. These are game rules, not a way to forecast a win. The demo is useful for seeing the order of events and how consecutive wins affect the multiplier.

Gold symbols and Wilds

The gold-plated feature is another useful point to observe. In both titles, eligible symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 may appear gold. Wild symbols and Scatters are excluded. When a gold symbol is involved in a win, it becomes a Wild after the next symbols cascade down. The Wild substitutes for all symbols except Scatter; its design is a gold ingot marked WILD.

Mahjong Ways 2 adds a specific rule during free spins: eligible symbols on reel 3 appear gold and can turn into Wilds after a win. That distinction is worth checking in the demo rather than assuming the two games handle the feature identically.

Free spins and Scatters

Free spins are triggered by three Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. In Mahjong Ways, three Scatters award 12 free spins; in Mahjong Ways 2, they award 10. Each additional Scatter adds two spins in either game, and free spins can be retriggered. The Scatter shows the red character 胡 (hu).

The trigger is uncommon in the published game data: the free-spins hit rate is 0.49% of spins for Mahjong Ways and 0.46% for Mahjong Ways 2. Mahjong Ways demo: how do the two games differ?

Both games use five reels and four rows as their base layout, but Mahjong Ways 2 adds positions on the middle three reels. The figures below are the published game specifications. RTP is a long-term theoretical value for a game version, not a forecast for one session.

The stated overall hit rate includes both the main game and free-spins feature. The published RTP breakdown is 68.89% from the main game and 28.03% from free spins for Mahjong Ways; for Mahjong Ways 2, it is 70.39% and 26.56% respectively. Why are free spins rare during demo play of the sequel?

Free spins require three Scatters to land in the same spin, so a demo may run for some time without triggering them. The published hit rate for the feature is 0.46% of spins in Mahjong Ways 2 and 0.49% in Mahjong Ways. A few spins, or even one longer session, may not reflect those long-run rates.

There is no reliable timing trick, pattern, predictor or hack for making the feature appear. Claims about Mahjong Ways 2 tricks do not change the random outcome of a spin. Treat demo play as a way to learn the rules and interface, rather than as evidence that a feature is due. The same caution applies to claims that a particular sequence guarantees a Scatter or a multiplier.

Demo and real-money play: what is different in India?

A demo uses virtual credits and involves no money. Real-money play is different: it involves a stake and, under the stated Indian legal position, playing Mahjong Ways for real money is an online money game. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 applies across India, including services operated from outside the country. It prohibits offering, advertising and promoting online money games, and bars banks and payment systems from processing transactions for them. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026 came into force on 1 May 2026; an authority determines whether a game is an online money game.

Are Mahjong Ways demo accounts and special RTP claims official?

A claim made by a page or account describing itself as a demo account does not, by itself, make it an official PG Soft service. The public PG Soft demo is the reference for trying the game with virtual credits. The games do not have their own account system; any login or registration belongs to the platform providing access.

Be cautious of claims that a demo account has a special or guaranteed RTP, or that an hourly changing RTP is official. PG Soft’s published RTP is a fixed long-term theoretical value for the relevant game version. It is not a live percentage for an individual session, and a demo result cannot establish that the next spin will win. Check game information and rules rather than relying on unofficial predictions or account claims.

Mahjong Ways demo not loading: what can you try?

A loading delay does not mean the game has changed its rules. Try these basic checks in order:

1. Confirm that you pressed the demo button; the game on this site does not launch automatically.
2. Check that your internet connection is working, then refresh the page and press the button again.
3. Use a current browser that supports HTML5 and allow the game area to finish loading before tapping again.
4. On a phone, rotate to portrait orientation for the intended display, then reopen the page if the reels remain blank.
5. If the issue continues, try another supported device or browser. Do not download an unofficial APK to get around a loading issue.
