How Mahjong Ways 2 uses gold symbols and cascades

A win removes the winning symbols and lets new symbols fall into the spaces. The game checks the new layout for another win, so one spin can produce several rounds. The multiplier displayed above the reels begins at x1. When a round wins, the next round’s multiplier advances through the base-game ladder: x1, x2, x3, then x5 for the fourth round and later rounds. It resets on a new spin.

Gold Plated symbols can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 during a spin. Wilds and Scatters are excluded from this gold treatment. After a win and cascade, any gold symbol involved in the preceding win changes into a Wild in the new symbols. The Wild substitutes for other symbols, but not for the Scatter. This makes the cascade and the gold-to-Wild change linked mechanics rather than separate bonus rounds.

The extra row gives the sequel a taller central section, but the number of ways alone does not indicate how often a spin will pay or how large a result will be. The game’s posted hit rate and volatility figures are useful context; neither guarantees a particular pattern of wins. Free spins: the middle-reel Wild transformation

Three Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels trigger 10 free spins. Each additional Scatter adds two spins, and the feature can be retriggered. During free spins, every symbol on reel 3 other than Wilds and Scatters appears gold. When one of those gold symbols is involved in a win, it changes into a Wild after the cascade, creating the feature’s distinctive middle-reel transformation.

Mahjong Ways 2 maxwin: advertised value and simulation

The Mahjong Ways 2 max win is advertised as 100,000x the bet. That is the published maximum-win value, not a result that can be expected or a measure of what a typical session produces. In one billion simulated spins, the maximum exposure observed was 1,708x. The advertised ceiling and the simulation result are different measures: the simulation records the highest outcome in that sample, not a revised advertised limit or a promise about future spins.

PG Soft’s published frequency figures for Mahjong Ways 2 are one Big Win in 294, one Mega Win in 1,201 and one Super Mega Win in 2,122. The categories are based on win size: Big Win is x20 to x35, Mega Win is x35 to x50, and Super Mega Win is x50 or above. They are statistical frequencies, not a schedule. What changed from Mahjong Ways

The sequel keeps the cascade, Gold Plated symbols and base-game multiplier sequence, but changes the reel layout and its free-spins setup. The figures below are the published specifications for each game version.

The higher ways count and advertised max win are not enough to conclude that the sequel is better for every player. Mahjong Ways 2 gives more rows in the middle and a specific reel-3 transformation during free spins; the original starts with more free spins when three Scatters land. Both have medium session volatility and use the same base multiplier ladder. The original was announced in December 2019 as PG Soft’s first mahjong-themed slot; Mahjong Ways 2 followed as its sequel in April 2020.

Mahjong Ways 2 may appeal to readers who prefer a mahjong-tile theme, cascading wins and a feature whose gold-to-Wild mechanic is concentrated on the middle reel. Its 2,000 ways and extra central rows distinguish the layout, while the x2, x4, x6 and x10 free-spins ladder provides a clear contrast with the base-game multiplier progression.

It may be less suitable for someone looking for predictable outcomes, a guaranteed feature trigger or a way to control results. The stated medium volatility is a session classification, not a promise that results will feel steady. Every spin is generated independently, and so-called tricks, predictors, patterns or hacks do not change the random outcome.
