Setting limits and finding support for responsible gaming with Mahjong Ways
Responsible gaming matters when reading about Mahjong Ways and Mahjong Ways 2 in Bangladesh. The Cyber Security Ordinance, 2025 sets out offences connected with online gambling, so do not assume that access through a website or platform makes participation lawful. Gambling can also become difficult to control. This guide covers warning signs, personal limits, self-exclusion and support options.

Mahjong Ways and the legal position in Bangladesh
The Cyber Security Ordinance, 2025 addresses gambling in cyberspace. Section 20 makes it an offence to create or operate a gambling portal, app or device, to take part in such gambling, to assist or encourage it, or to advertise or promote it. The stated punishment is imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both. Sections 21 and 22 prohibit gambling-related financial transactions and fraud.
Bangladesh Police’s Criminal Investigation Department has run a nationwide campaign against online gambling and identified mobile financial service agents used for gambling payments. This guide does not determine how the law applies to any individual situation. Read the Bangladesh legal status page for related information and seek qualified local legal advice if you need advice about your circumstances. Do not treat a game being available online as confirmation that playing it is lawful.

Recognise warning signs
Gambling can be addictive. A slot’s design or controls cannot prevent harm, and there is no reliable way to predict a winning outcome. Consider stopping and seeking support if you notice any of these changes:
| Possible warning sign | What to pay attention to |
|---|---|
| Losing track of time | Playing longer than you intended or neglecting everyday responsibilities |
| Spending beyond your limit | Continuing after reaching the amount you decided you could afford to lose |
| Chasing losses | Returning to play or increasing spending in an attempt to recover losses |
| Feeling distressed | Becoming anxious, irritable or preoccupied with gambling |
| Hiding play | Concealing gambling from people you trust or feeling unable to discuss it |
| Borrowing to play | Seeking loans or using money meant for essential needs |
One sign is reason enough to pause and review what is happening. You do not need to wait for a crisis before asking someone you trust for help. If gambling is affecting your wellbeing or daily life, stop playing and contact a support service.

Set limits before opening Mahjong Ways
A limit is useful only if you decide it in advance and stop when it is reached. Do not use rent, food, bills, education costs, savings, borrowed money or funds needed by family members for gambling. If you cannot keep to a limit, take a break rather than making it more generous.
| Limit | Practical boundary |
|---|---|
| Time | Decide when to stop and use an alarm or timer outside the game. Stop when it rings, even if a feature is in progress. |
| Budget | Set a firm amount you can afford to lose without affecting essentials. Do not top it up after reaching the limit. |
| Frequency | Decide in advance how often you will engage, and keep gambling out of routines that matter to you. |
| Mood | Do not play to escape distress, boredom or pressure. Pause if you feel upset or are acting on impulse. |
The published RTP figures for the two games are long-term theoretical values, not a forecast for a session or a guarantee of return. Each spin is independent; tricks, predictors and patterns do not change its outcome. See the guide to RTP and max win for an explanation of those terms. A maximum-win figure is an advertised value, not an expected result.

Use Auto Spin stop conditions as limits
The official controls for Mahjong Ways and Mahjong Ways 2 describe Auto Spin stop conditions for when the balance decreases by a set amount, when it increases by a set amount, or when a single win exceeds a set amount. These controls can help enforce a boundary, but they do not make gambling safe or remove the need to stop yourself.
If you choose to use these controls, decide your limits beforehand and set the relevant stop conditions before starting. Do not raise a limit after a stop condition is reached, restart Auto Spin to continue, or treat a balance increase as a reason to keep playing. A stop condition is only useful if you respect it. You can also stop the reels or end play directly; there is no need to use every available spin.
For a neutral explanation of the game interface, consult how to play. Reading instructions does not change the legal position or reduce the risks of gambling.

Do not chase losses or borrow
A loss does not make a later win more likely. Mahjong Ways and Mahjong Ways 2 use random outcomes, and each spin is independent. Trying to recover losses by continuing, increasing stakes or playing longer can lead to further losses and make it harder to stop. Step away rather than treating a previous result as a reason to play again.
Never borrow to gamble, use credit, or take money from essential household needs. Do not ask another person to fund play or use financial services for gambling payments. If you have already borrowed or are struggling to stop, avoid further play and speak with someone you trust or a support service. For account-related questions, remember that the games have no account of their own: registration and login are handled by the platform. The login and registration guide explains that distinction; it does not endorse any platform or confirm its legality.

Self-exclusion and taking a break
Mahjong Ways does not provide its own player account or independent self-exclusion system. If a platform offers self-exclusion, time-outs or account restrictions, use its official account controls or contact its support team to ask what is available. Read the terms carefully and do not try to get around a restriction by opening another account or switching platforms.
You can also remove easy access to gambling pages, ask a trusted person to help you maintain a break, and plan activities that do not involve gambling. These steps are not a substitute for professional support, and a platform tool cannot guarantee that all access will be blocked. For more about this independent guide and its scope, see About us.

Protect people under 18
This page is for adults aged 18 and over. People under 18 should not gamble or use gambling platforms. Adults should keep devices and accounts inaccessible to children, avoid showing minors gambling content, and not ask them to create accounts, handle payments or participate in play. If a child encounters gambling material, explain that it is not for them and use the relevant platform’s reporting or access controls where available.
