How RTP affects Mahjong Ways payouts and prize potential
Updated 26 October 2026 · Data: official PG Soft documents, public demo
Mahjong Ways RTP is listed at 96.92%, while Mahjong Ways 2 is listed at 96.95%; each figure combines a main-game share and a free-spins share. Both games have medium session volatility, but their advertised maximum wins differ from the highest exposure observed in one billion simulated spins. This Bangladesh guide explains what those figures mean and what they do not promise.

Mahjong Ways RTP: 96.92% versus 96.95%
PG Soft lists a theoretical RTP of 96.92% for Mahjong Ways and 96.95% for Mahjong Ways 2. The difference is 0.03 percentage points. These are fixed figures for the documented game versions, not hourly readings or predictions for a particular player.
| Game | Main-game RTP | Free-spins RTP | Total RTP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mahjong Ways | 68.89% | 28.03% | 96.92% |
| Mahjong Ways 2 | 70.39% | 26.56% | 96.95% |
The split shows how each game's theoretical return is allocated between its main game and free-spins feature. It does not mean that a player will receive either component, or the total RTP, during an individual session. Free spins are one part of the modelled long-term return, not a guaranteed result.
What the RTP percentage describes
RTP, or return to player, is a theoretical average calculated over a very large number of game rounds. A 96.92% RTP does not mean that 96.92% of a particular session's stake will come back, nor does it set a minimum return. Individual results can be substantially different because each spin is random.
The corresponding theoretical house edge is the part not represented by RTP: 3.08% for Mahjong Ways and 3.05% for Mahjong Ways 2. These are complements of the published RTP figures, not forecasts of a specific outcome. For more on game controls and the spin sequence, see how to play.
Why third-party live RTP is not official
The official figures for these versions are fixed theoretical values. Websites that show a percentage changing by the hour are not publishing an official PG Soft live RTP figure. Such readings should not be treated as a current return rate, an indicator of a game's next result, or a replacement for the published game information.
PG Soft's official game information and public demo are the relevant references for the provider's game details. The public demo is available in several interface languages; this Bangladesh section uses the English interface. In the demo, the number of ways appears above the reels: 1,024 for Mahjong Ways and 2,000 for Mahjong Ways 2. You can also visit the site's demo guide.

Mahjong Ways volatility and hit rates
Both slots are classified as having medium session volatility in the official game information. Volatility describes how results can vary across play; the label does not promise a steady pattern of wins or indicate what will happen on the next spin. A session can differ from the game's long-term statistical profile.
| Reported measure | Mahjong Ways | Mahjong Ways 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Session volatility | Medium | Medium |
| Overall hit rate | 28.54% | 29.90% |
| Main-game hit rate | 28.05% | 29.44% |
| Free-spins hit rate | 0.49% | 0.46% |
The hit rates are reported separately for the overall game, main game and free-spins feature. They should not be read as a schedule: a stated rate does not mean a win will appear after a set number of spins, and consecutive outcomes do not follow a predictable pattern. Every spin is independent, and results are determined by a random number generator.
Big Win, Mega Win and Super Mega Win frequencies
The game information also lists frequencies for three win labels. These are statistical frequencies, not promises that the relevant result will arrive within the stated number of spins.
| Win label | Mahjong Ways | Mahjong Ways 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Big Win | 1/287 | 1/294 |
| Mega Win | 1/970 | 1/1,201 |
| Super Mega Win | 1/1,222 | 1/2,122 |
For Mahjong Ways, the listed Big Win range is x20 to x35 of the bet, Mega Win is x35 to x50, and Super Mega Win is x50 and above. A frequency such as 1/287 is a reported statistical rate; it is not a guarantee of one such result in every 287 spins. The figures do not provide a method for predicting an individual round.

Advertised max win versus simulated exposure
The advertised maximum win and the maximum exposure found in a simulation are different measures. The advertised value is the game's stated maximum multiplier. The exposure figures are the highest values observed in one billion simulated spins; they are not a revised advertised limit or a forecast of future results. | Game | Advertised max win | Max exposure observed in 1 billion simulated spins | |---|---:|---:| | Mahjong Ways | 25,000x the bet | 2,893x | | Mahjong Ways 2 | 100,000x the bet | 1,708x |
Accordingly, the advertised max win for Mahjong Ways is 25,000x the bet, while the observed maximum exposure in the stated simulation was 2,893x. For Mahjong Ways 2, the advertised max win is 100,000x the bet, while the observed maximum exposure in that simulation was 1,708x. The simulated results do not establish that either advertised maximum is likely, or that it cannot occur. They describe separate figures with different meanings.
The games were tested by Gaming Associates. The simulation figures should still be understood only in their stated context: one billion simulated spins. They are not live player data, a guarantee, or a way to calculate what a future spin will produce. For details specific to the sequel, see the Mahjong Ways 2 guide.

How cascades and free spins relate to the figures
Both games use cascading wins. When a winning group is removed, new symbols drop into the open spaces and the game checks for another win. One spin can therefore contain several rounds. The multiplier above the reels starts at x1, rises to x2 after a win in the first round, x3 after a win in the second, then x5 after a win in the third and later rounds. It resets when a new spin begins.
Gold Plated symbols can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. If a gold symbol is involved in a win, it turns into a Wild after new symbols cascade down. Wild substitutes for every symbol except Scatter. Mahjong Ways 2 has an additional free-spins detail: during that feature, all non-Wild and non-Scatter symbols on reel 3 appear in gold, so they can turn into Wilds after a win.
| Feature | Mahjong Ways | Mahjong Ways 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Scatters to trigger free spins | 3 | 3 |
| Starting free spins | 12 | 10 |
| Extra spins per additional Scatter | 2 | 2 |
| Free-spins multipliers | x2, x4, x6, x10 | x2, x4, x6, x10 |
| Can free spins retrigger? | Yes | Yes |
These mechanics help explain why the game information separates main-game and free-spins RTP. They do not provide a strategy for reaching a feature. The Scatter is shown with the red character 胡 (hu). A more detailed explanation of the feature is available in the free spins and Scatter guide.

Bangladesh legal context and source checks
This page is an independent guide to game information, not a statement that gambling is legal or available in Bangladesh. Section 20 of the Cyber Security Ordinance, 2025 makes it an offence to create or operate a portal, app or device for gambling in cyberspace, to take part in such gambling, to assist or encourage it, or to advertise or promote it. Sections 21 and 22 prohibit gambling-related financial transactions and fraud. The CID of Bangladesh Police has also run a nationwide campaign against online gambling and identified mobile financial service agents used for gambling payments. Read the Bangladesh legal information for the site's related coverage.
The game details here are based on PG Soft information for Mahjong Ways version 1.0.r719 and Mahjong Ways 2 version 1.0r792, the provider's public demo and official news pages. The specifications were checked on 26 October 2026. The games are HTML5 titles and can run in a browser or within a gaming platform; there is no official standalone Mahjong Ways APK from PG Soft. A platform's login and registration are separate from the games, which have no account of their own.
The provider's catalogue lists Mahjong Ways and Mahjong Ways 2. Names such as “Mahjong Ways 3” on other platforms are not confirmed as PG Soft releases, and “Mahjong Wins Super Scatter” is a different title by another provider. The term “black Scatter” is not part of either game's official information. Predictors, patterns and hacks do not work: each spin is independent.
